Artist spotlight: Helena Zanting
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Art has inspired me, like so many other people, from a very young age. I love it when art touches me, moves me, dares me or even disgusts me. It doesn’t matter what style I’m looking at, or if the artist is famous or not. For me it’s the emotion that defines art and I greatly admire artists who know just how to reach that soft spot, whatever the soft spot may be at that moment in time.

I thought it was a good idea to put a spotlight on one of my favorite artists every once in a while and there is no one in the world I’d rather start with than one of my best friends!

Meet Helena

One of those artists -oh she is going to hate me SO much for calling her an artist- is one of my closest friends: Helena Zanting. I don’t think I have ever come across someone so passionate and opinionated as she is. We have known each other for quite a while now and she never ceased to amaze me with her creativity (nor with her ability to put up with me)!

Her work is original, brave and emotional. Sometimes funny, sometimes serious, but also challenging or criticizing. I love the styles she experiments with and it’s inspiring to see her grow. She will most certainly disagree when I say it’s brilliant, but that’s the way I feel about her art. I actually have three of her works on my walls at home! One of them is the gorgeous image above this post, which is in my “me-time” room. Two others are on my bedroom walls.

Recently Helena launched her new website:
She posts one image a day. Old or new, whatever the style. No rules, no guidelines… Just one image a day. So far her website is looking great and I love to check in every day to see what she came up with. If you love art, I think it’s safe to say that you should bookmark this website right now
