Unboxing my first Goodiebox – Honest review

Reading Time: 5 minutes

I never was quite the make-up and beauty addict and I don’t think I ever will be. However, I do enjoy pampering myself every once in a while. There is one problem with that… I don’t like shopping. Most of my purchases are made online and if I absolutely need to go downtown, I’ll go on a monday morning when it’s deserted out there. Even still, I make an effort to avoid beauty & make-up stores because they make me feel uncomfortable. I just stick to what I know, which honestly, isn’t much. But that is about to change because last week I heard about Goodiebox.nl, a beauty box subscription concept that has flown over to the Netherlands from Denmark. I decided to take a plunge and try it out.

*This is NOT a sponsored post but it does contain affiliate links. I payed for my subscription and if you live in the Netherlands and you choose to subscribe to Goodiebox through my link, this will not cost you any extra but it will give me a tiny percentage of your purchase. How does it work?

The concept is simple: when you subscribe, Goodiebox sends you a box filled with beauty products every month. The contents of the box are kept secret so it really feels like you are giving yourself a present when you unpack your box. I love the idea pampering myself once a month without having to think about it!

High quality and full size products

According to goodiebox, the products are high quality and they work with full size products as much as they can. This gives you the chance to thoroughly test every product you receive. Honestly, the only way to know for sure that you love a product is to use it for a longer period of time, right? All products are tested by experts before they end up in your Goodiebox. The box has a different theme each month so you will receive a variety of products that suit the season and the lates trends.

Personalized beauty profile

Every woman is different, therefore Goodiebox asks you to set up your beauty profile in a few easy steps. Your box will fit your beauty profile so you never get products that aren’t right for your skin tone or skin type. Sounds awesome, but what if you do receive a box with products that really don’t suit you? No problem, you can send it back and you will get a refund.

Monthly subscription

Since this is a monthly subscription, I was wondering if it was “safe” in terms of terminating your subscription. I’m always a bit nervous with these things. Turns out I have little to worry about and you can quit at any moment, no strings attached. The reviews on Trustpilot are all very positive, even from the women who ended their subscription after a few months.

How much does it cost?

The big question is ofcourse, what does it all cost? Goodiebox promises that each box you receive has a total worth of between €65,00 and €100,00 but what will it cost me? The answer is €19,95 per month. I’ll admit that the price was holding me back for a while and it’s kinda hard to believe that the contents are actually worth atleast sixty five euro… They have to make money somehow right? But in the end I decided to give it a try. I could really use a change in my beauty routine and the idea of not having to find out about new products myself appeals to me. Plus, I love inwrapping presents!!!

My first box… An honest review

My first box arrived last week and I was really excited to see what was in it. Starting with the package I was pleasantly surprised. Opening up my box really did feel like unwrapping a birthday present! Funny how something as simple as a box and a little paper can give you the feeling of luxury for a minute, isn’t it? I’d say: So far so good!

This months theme is Keep It Fresh, and my box was filled with products that are in line with that theme. As I “unboxed my happyness” as Goodiebox likes to call it, I really wanted to start using the products, which is a very good sign. After a week of testing, you can find my honest opinion below.

Beauty Blender || GOODIEBOX

I don’t wear a lot of foundation and when I do, I usually apply it with my Clinique brush, which works awesome. This beauty blender thingie was worth a try but if I’m honest I prefer my old brush. I guess this is a matter of taste and it was fun to try out something new.

CC Complete Cream SPF 30 || YOUTHLAB

Yay! This one I did love. This 4 in one cream makes my skin look fantastic. It hydrates, protects me from the sun and makes my skin look even and healthy. The cream is really light and it doesn’t feel like it’s cluttering my pores at all. I would have loved it if the shade was a little bit lighter, but nevertheless I love love love this!

Dew Pot || LARITZY COSMETICS

This is a perfect example of a product I would never have bought, but turns out to be lovely. It highlights area’s of choice by adding a beautiful shimmer to the skin. I use it under my eyebrows and on my cheekbones and it gives me a lovely and healthy shine. Me happy!

Equilibria Gel To Milk Cleanser || NAOBAY

It felt a bit weird when I used this cleanser for the first time. The gel turns into a milky substance when you apply it to your skin. It took some getting used to but I have to say I like using it to take off my make up at the end of the day. It is a natural product with a earthy, planty kind of scent that, once you get used to it, is really nice and refreshing.

Magic Makeup Remover || AFTERSPA

This is one of those things that work really well, but at the same time it’s really impractical. It is great for removing make-up, but ofcourse you need to wash it after every use. This would work if I had a few of these piled up in my bathroomdrawer, but I don’t. I do admit that it works way better than my usual cottonwool. And it feels so soft!

Multi Functional Soap Sponge Charcoal || DAILY CONCEPTS

First of all, please explain to me what is so multi functional about a sponge because I don’t get it. Other than that, this sponge is way too rough on my skin. I love the scent though, too bad my skin is just way too sensitive for this kind of scrubbing.

Would I recommend Goodiebox?

It’s hard to tell after one box, but based on my first experience I’d say yes. I’m actually looking forward to my next box! Even though not every product was a perfect match, I liked the idea of trying out different products that I would probably never have bought myself. I can only speak for myself but yes, I’ll keep my subscription with Goodiebox for now 🙂

Wow, you get such a great deal out of the box! I love Clinique products – but the beauty blender can do some good as well. Glad the cleanser works out well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    • It is! And it’s important to be nice to yourself every once in a while too 🙂 I will try the blender again, maybe I just need some practice. Thanks for reading! ❤️

      • It was nice seeing what you received in your version of the Keep it Fresh box! I use liquid concealers so I’ve been using the beauty blender & I like it, but I prefer the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge instead. I do really like the dew pot! It’s so pretty!
        The milk cleanser does sound a bit weird, but it’s good it’s effective!

        • Thank you Karalee! I like to see the diferences between the boxes in your country and in mine. I have tried the blender a few more times and I’m slowly getting used to it, but still prefer my brush. And the cleanser really is a lot better than it sounds 😉
