Movie journal

Movies! Perhaps my favorite way to waste an evening. Ever since I was a little girl I had a thing for horror movies. I secretly watched movies like It and Pet sematary and I loved it! I guess you can say that the horror genre has me in it’s grip. Unsurprisingly, a vast majority of the films I watch are considered horror movies. Can’t help it!

Trying to keep track of the movies I watched can be challenging, that’s why I decided to keep a list. I’m quite curious about how many movies will end up on this page… Probably a lot!

I have added a rating to each movie. Please note that this rating is based on my personal opinion, and it will probably differ from the rating on IMDB or other websites. If you like to discuss movies, good! So do I so feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Blackkklansman – 2018

Genre: Biography, crime, drama
Notes: Brilliant. Terriffic movie filled with humor and sadly a dark and bitter truth.
My rating: ★★★★★

First man – 2018
Watched on: Januari 26, 2019
Genre: Biography, history, drama
Notes: If the real event had been just as boring as this movie we would never have made it to the moon at all.
My rating: ★★☆☆☆

Alpha – 2018
Watched on: Januari 15, 2019
Genre: Adventure
Notes: Hachi meets Homeward bound meets 20.000 BC meets… Nevermind.
My rating: ★★☆☆☆

Bird Box – 2018
Watched on Netflix: December 27, 2018
Genre: Horror
Notes: YES! YES! YEEEEES! Man I totally, totally love this film. I need to watch it again. I loved it. It was brilliant. THANK YOU NETFLIX!
My rating: ★★★★★

The Devils Doorway – 2018
Watched on: December 26, 2018
Genre: Horror
Notes: I actually liked the story, but the way the movie shot just didn’t cut it.
My rating: ★★☆☆

Traffik – 2018
Watched on: December 26, 2018
Genre: Thriller
Notes: This movie is more concerned about being Instagram-worthy than it is with it’s storyline. Nope.
My rating: ★★

Cam – 2018
Watched on Netflix: November 26, 2018
Genre: Horror / Thriller
Notes: Pleasantly surprised! I liked how this film takes the genre to a next logical place, technology wise. It almost felt like an episode of Black Mirror!
My rating: ★★★☆☆

Hereditary – 2018
Watched on: November 21, 2018
Genre: Horror
Notes: This is what happens when we start to take horror seriously: A Beautiful film without jump scares but genuinely terrifying. I absolutely loved it and it would have been 5 stars if the ending didn’t feel so vague (to me)
My rating: ★★★★

Slenderman – 2018
Watched on: November 20, 2018
Genre: Horror
Notes: Despite all the terrible critiques, I almost enjoyed the movie. Yes it’s poorly written, yes the acting is bad, yes it’s cliché on cliché but there were moments that surprised me. The library scene was actually good!
My rating: ★★★

Summer of 84 – 2018
Watched on: November 20, 2018
Genre: Thriller
Notes: Pretty decent take on the 1980’s revival hype, but I’m not convinced. Entertaining but it felt more like imitation of Stranger Things, It and Super 8 then a genuinely well written story on itself.
My rating: ★★★

The Darkest Minds – 2018
Watched on: November 13, 2018
Genre: Sci-Fi / Thriller
Notes: It all started with The Hunger Games, which I LOVE, then we got Divergent and The Maze Runner who weren’t bad, and now we have The Darkest Minds… It sucked.
My rating: ★★☆☆

The Nun – 2018
Watched on: November 8, 2018
Genre: Horror
Notes: Some really nice elements but it didn’t live up to my expectations after the Conjuring.
My rating: ★★☆☆

The Meg – 2018
Watched on: November 7, 2018
Genre: Horror / Action
Notes: Jurassic Park met Jaws and it didn’t go well :’) I honestly don’t think I have ever seen a movie that is as predictable as this one…
My rating: ★☆☆☆

Our House – 2018
Watched on Netflix: November 5, 2018
Genre: Horror / Thriller
Notes: Not great but way better than I expected. The story reminded me of another movie which I can’t remember.
My rating: ★★★☆☆

The Cured – 2017
Watched: October 29, 2018
Genre: Drama / Horror / Sci-Fi
Notes: Interesting idea to explore the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse… Sadly I expected a bit more. Great acting though!
My rating: ★★★☆☆

Equals – 2015
Watched on Netflix: October 27, 2018
Genre: Sci-fi / Romance
Notes: They promised me sci-fi but delivered a romance that takes itself way too serious. And please, stop casting Kristen Stewart. She annoys the crap out of me.
My rating: ★☆☆☆

Apostle – 2018
Watched on Netflix: October 26, 2018
Genre: Horror
Notes: Well that escalated quickly. I might need to watch this again someday
My rating: ☆☆

    • Hi Eva, I just can’t help it. There is something about her that makes me want to poke my eyes out. On screen she’s completely emotionless and what’s up with her having her mouth half open and her eyes half closed all the time?
